Try having her imagine a happy dream before she goes to sleep - explain that what she thinks about before bed tells her brain what she wants to dream about. Help her imagine the scene in great detail, sounds and smells and textures, etc. If she keeps coming back to the nightmares, just tell her it's not time to think about that right now, it's time to think about happy things. You could also try some guided imagery for kids, using a book like Starbright, Imaginations or Aladdin's Magic Carpet; or an audio recording such as Still Quiet Place, Indigo Ocean Dreams, or Bedtime Meditations for Kids. Even an audiobook that you leave on until she falls asleep might be helpful.

During the day, let her talk through the nightmares but also help her come up with a happy ending to them - the skeletons fall into a pile of dead bones and a dog comes and starts chewing on them, or the nuclear war turns out to be candy falling from the sky instead of anything dangerous. Basically you want her feel like she has some control over the nightmares so they aren't this unpredictable scary thing.

Getting her a special nightlight, a stuffed animal protector, or a dreamcatcher might be worth trying too.
