As someone who's clumsy and unlucky I've experienced 10 or so nail injuries split between my feet and hands. I recall growing somewhat concerned that the new growth appeared to be digging under the skin the first 2-3 times. Although both injury types of ripping off vs. blood pooling below the nail, I recall they both followed a similar healing process.
