The power brick that came with your MacBook works with 240V which is what they have in Japan (it works with 120V in the US as well). So you only need a plug converter - female side is US two prong blade style and the male side is Japan two prong post style. I recently traveled and had two items that worked. A single small adaptor and then I decided to get a power strip. The adaptor has sliders that push out the correct prongs for the countries in question. The power strip has a US male plug but then two plastic adaptors it plugs into which fit other countries. The strip has female receptacles for multiple countries including the US.
