Simple and effective.
I bought a Jansport in August 2014 so really can't say whether it will hold up, but if it's any indication, the leather pullstrap on one of the zippers ripped off only a few months after owning the bag. I never yanked or jerked it around, I suppose the leather was too thin. For context, this is the bag. Although I'll say other than the shitty leather pullstraps, the bag seems to be good quality in comparison to early 2000's jansport I still have. I like it anyway.
Jansport has amazing longevity but me personally, for $35, I would have bought it new

Please don't wear anything with plastic buckles, they look they're meant for elementary school kids. I wear a classic black Jansport with suede, or a J.Crew messenger bag.
