>I'm not sure why it's such a problem for me or anyone to have an opinion like this.

It's not a problem but also realize that you're holding a position, it's not an opinion like "strawberry ice cream is the best ice cream flavor". I disagree that it's pointless to "argue" about things that are "only theories". This isn't a philosophy class, it's a murder case with real-life evidence. Even if all we can do is speculate with limited evidence, one still has to use verifiable information and evidence and reason to uphold one's position.

>Know anymore good books dealing with this?

Schiller's book, Steve Thomas's book, Kolar's book are essential reads.

The latter two worked officially on the case and had access to the full spectrum of evidence, unlike Douglas who was hired privately by the Ramseys and was given cherry-picked evidence by their attorneys.

Ok the best source on the phone records is discussed in detail in the book JonBenet: Inside the Ramsey Murder Investigation by Steve Thomas.

Steve Thomas was the lead Boulder Police detective on the case and wrote a book about the case in 2000.

From my understanding, having read the book many years ago, the Ramsey's would not voluntarily hand over their phone records to the police, which Steve Thomas outlined as incredibly frustrating to his investigation. The DA at the time didn't ask for a search warrant in order to get the records. Thomas said the DA wanted to treat the Ramsey's as victims and not issue a search warrant, if they wanted to give them the records then great otherwise they would not pursue it.

So they police wanted the records, Ramsey's wouldn't hand over unless they got a search warrant. The DA never issued such warrant.

It came out in the last few years that the Grand Jury in 1999 voted to indict the Ramsey's as culpable in the murder of JonBenet. This same DA decided not to take it to court, even though the Grand Jury voted to. People have often wondered why the DA was so hesitant in his investigation of the case.
