I use a shedding blade and then blast my girl with a high velocity dryer.

The dryer/blower is so much more effective than just brushing alone. Even when it's not blowout season her hind quarters absolutely explode when hit with the blower.

edit: I'm not a big fan of the furminator. I think it's harsh on the coat by comparison and my girl certainly doesn't care for how it feels.
