Panasonic left the vacuum business at the end of 2017, that's why you are seeing them sold out because stock is starting to dry up. A Chinese company, Cleva, bought the rights to the Panasonic / Kenmore designs, & is producing uprights & canisters under the Kenmore & Titan brand names. I would suggest buying the Kenmore Elite Ultra Plush canister I linked to below. This is pretty much the same as the Panasonic MC CG917 you were interested in, but also adds some extra features, like the Ultra Plush vents for plush carpets so it's easy to push on them, swivel steering, & improved HEPA filtration system that is sealed & the filter is encased in a plastic frame, whereas with the Panasonic it was not sealed & HEPA filter was encased in cardboard. Furthermore, the Panasonic also had a problem with the hose handle receptacle & powerhead wand receptacle shorting out after a few years & requiring repairs, the new wand design on this Kenmore & the Titan canisters eliminates those issues & will be more reliable.

I have to say I don't really want to spend $700 for only one bedroom... I saw this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075F41FZJ/ref=emc_b_5_t, is it worth it or not? Comments on Sears are pretty good compared to the one on Amazon so I'm not really sure.
