Similar, I got an aftermarket head unit put in after the stock Entune thing started to crap out and Toyota wanted almost $900 to fix it.
I got the Kenwood DDX6704 with a bunch of extra stuff, but at the end of the day, the steering wheel controls still work.
My one complaint is that the way it got wired in, when you set the display dimmer to "sync" with the headlights, it goes "dim" when running lights are on, which bothers me a bit.
Major bonus is the above unit has a "rear camera" button, so you can see out the rear camera even when not in reverse. I use it often at car washes to make sure the idiot behind me does hit me in a rush to get out.

Install was a mess. There were some wires that were rerouted within the factory harness, so I couldn't get all the speakers running properly. Ended up taking it in and having a local place do it. They were able to fix the factory harness and hardwire in the rear camera (no aftermarket harness was available when I did it, that may be different now)
