I use my own Lanyard rather the one that came with the badge holder. I just clip the reel to my Lanyard and put the badge holder on the reel.

Those retractable key ring things suck and break easily. If you want something that will last a while get a Key Bak
Better quality string and better retraction mechanism. Claims it will pull 4 oz so good for any light op would need.
L O L. I’ve been using this and it’s been working perfectly. Definitely still overpriced, but seems well built, and will hopefully last a while.
If you're going to buy a badge holder, I highly recommend Key-Bak. They make extremely durable badge holders, unlike all the others that only last about a year before falling apart. They're available on Amazon too if you want it in two days.
Just get one of these bad boys and a ceiling hook. No more dragging and MUCH less likely to tangle as you move since it retracts when you give it slack but is too weak to pull on you in any noticeable way.
