Oh man, I feel so bad for her. I broke my foot and leg last month and it's been a goddamned nightmare.

Consider getting a knee scooter, they're light years better than the no doubt shitty crutches she'll get. Just watch out for hills.

EDIT: If you have an HD/HP and/or an HSA, this is a medical device and you can spend HSA funds on it.

I used to do crutches until discovering this thing: https://www.amazon.com/KneeRover-Economy-Scooter-Steerable-Alternative/dp/B01H0S9AXM/ref=sr_1_4?keywords=rolling+crutches&qid=1565028147&s=gateway&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&sr=8-4

Freaking life saver. I have to walk a lot at work so crutches were just not a realistic option not to mention the bruised palms and armpits. It's worth the money, get one. Hell, I'm using it right now.
