The main issue is the need of the access code for McGraw Hill Connect. Usually you can purchase this separately but I would check the syllabus or ask your teacher about that. Most teachers are pretty transparent about the purchase options. Either way, the access code is gonna cost a pretty penny but you might be able to offset that cost by renting or using a PDF version. My rule of thumb is that I usually wait till after the first class to purchase anything because you can ask the teacher questions then. Good luck finding a good deal!
There are plenty of sites that sell PDFs of this book for very cheap. A simple search for a PDF version gives multiple sub $30 options. (https://noahstores.com/product/kontakte-8th-edition-pdf-version/)
If you prefer a physical version, Amazon has one for $55. I'm sure there are rental options you could find too if you look hard enough. (https://www.amazon.com/Kontakte-Erwin-Tschirner/dp/1259307425)
