  • La Roche-Posay Anthelios 60 Ultra-Light Facial Sunscreen is the BEST sunscreen to wear under makeup. It works as a great primer too. I've had issues with others being super oily and thick but you can't feel this at all...I won't leave the house without it.

  • Timeless Vitamin C Serum has worked really well for me, I've noticed my skin is much brighter since I added it to my evening routine.

  • MIZON Snail Extract for some slight acne scarring near my temples and redness. I've been using it for a few months and it has helped big time.

  • Ponds Rejuveness Cream is my moisturizer of choice.

  • Garnier Micellar Water is the best makeup remover and cleanser I've found yet. Put on cotton swabs and press on your lashes for 30 seconds and even the toughest mascara is removed.

    Stridex pads for a BHA.

Once or twice a week I use a honey sheet mask...am always trying something new.

I'm in the process of looking for a new OTC retinol, would love some suggestions if anyone has them!

I recommend a morning facial cleansing routine. Try washing with a product containing benzoyl peroxide followed by a pH balancing toner (Witch Hazel). Use a lotion after your shower. In the evenings, use the same toner as the morning followed by a retinol serum to clear up wrinkles and hyperpigmentations. Wear hats and a daily sunscreen designed for faces with an spf of 30 or more to prevent early aging from the sun, especially because benzoyl peroxide and retinol will greatly sensitize you to sunlight.

spf in makeup is a great thing, but definitely not a replacement for sunscreen. I like la roche posay anthelios sunscreen (here's where I got mine), it dries to almost a matte finish and goes great under my makeup. /r/SkincareAddiction can give you more suggestions as well.

Is this what your mom uses that's matifying? I have super oily skin and just bought the Neutrogena Dry Touch 30 spf. Not sure how I feel about it yet!

I use La Roche Posay Anthelios SPF 60. It's lightweight and I really like it. I grabbed mine from Amazon.

I think you mean hyaluronic acid! You can't really have "too much" since it's not an acid like glycolic acid or salicylic acid, but a humectant, which draws moisture in and prevents moisture loss. If anything, it should help with the moderate dryness/skin cracking. If your issue is mainly with lip dryness, you could try using products with lanolin, or lip balms like Vaseline or Aquaphor to help!

As for sunscreen, a lot of people like this one from La Roche Posay since it's very light and suitable for sensitive skin. It also says that it's water-resistant, but you should be reapplying sunscreen, even if it is waterproof. There's also this one from Biore that is a bit cheaper, but you do have to wait for it to ship from Japan which takes a couple weeks.

Not entirely sure how to answer the face mask question, but in regards to the vitamin C (I'm guessing you meant vitamin C instead of vitamin A--if you are in fact using vitamin A, stop using it since tretinoin is already a vitamin A derivative), it is an active, so there is a chance that you're overdoing the actives. Being on tretinoin and Duac at the same time can be drying for your face, so I would honestly just stick to using tretinoin for now, especially because you've been on it for less than a month. Let your skin get used to the tretinoin first, and then start using the Duac and/or vitamin C. Generally listen to your skin: if it burns or hurts, stop using it. A mild tingle is okay with vitamin C, but nothing more than that. Keeping that in mind, you shouldn't be exfoliating while using tretinoin since tretinoin itself is kind of a super exfoliator. If you were to start using a chemical exfoliant, or even a physical one, I think I've mostly seen people advise to wait until you've been using tretinoin for ~4 months.

I also hope you aren't applying tretinoin daily; when I started using it, my dermatologist advised that I should being using it 2x a week, and then slowly work my way up to using it nightly. At this point, I think you should be using it, at most, every other night.

There are a lot of brands in this offer I know nothing about, but there are a few things I can recommend:

La Roche Posay sunscreen, such as the Anthelios 60 Ultra Light Sunscreen or the Anthelios 50 Mineral Ultra Light Sunscreen. These American LRP sunscreens still aren't as great as the European versions, but they still work very well and I like how they sit on my skin.

I also love the LRP Toleriane moisturizer, but it is much cheaper where I live; I'm not sure it is worth the money with all great, cheap moisturizers available in America.

Mario Badescu buffering lotion is HG status for me. Nothing, not even prescriptions, work as well as this lotion on my cystic acne. I've never tried the drying lotion, which is for non-cystic acne, but I've seen it recommended here a number of times.

Also, seriously, the Jack Black Intense Therapy Lip Balm SPF 25. Technically, this is a skin care line for men, but who cares? I've read some good things about their moisturizers here, but never tried one. I maybe own the lip balm in every flavor....

This one. It’s also Fungal Acne safe so I use it a lot because the tinted one is not unfortunately: La Roche-posay Anthelios Ultra Light Sunscreen Fluid Extreme, Spf 60-1.7 Oz, 1.75 Oz https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002CML1XE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_QrNrDb41W0VBN

I’ve also been living this one as well. It lays really nice under makeup and is FA safe too. Not as mattifying but I don’t always care about that. It’s really nice and light. Not greasy at all!: MISSHA ALL AROUND SAFE BLOCK... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B013B0DS86?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share.

Hope this helps someone

I really like la roche posay ultra light SPF 60 sunscreen. Very easy to spread and gets absorbed right away. I have acne prone skin but I don't believe it's adding to the break out, not noticably anyway, which is quite the challenge. It's pretty pricy but probably worth it if it ends up working (sorry I guess that's probably exactly the hope that makes us spend lots of $$ in new products!!). Don't know if they have samples.

Thanks for the help guys! I invested in the Corsx AHA, Cervae PM and some sunscreen that should be work for my skin. I'll update with results.

u/drm5678 · 1 pointr/Rosacea

I don't know if I'm fragrance-sensitive. I've really only used the Cerave for so long that I haven't experimented much. But that's a good point...I'll only try fragrance-free sunscreens from now on, just in case.

What are AB sunscreens?

I tried this La Roche Posay a few weeks ago (as you say, it seemed to be very highly recommended). It made me a little itchy after a few hours, but didn't really cause a flare. I ended up returning it, though, because I didn't like the way it made my skin feel kind of tight/chalky after a few hours (I guess that explains why it was itchy).

Oh boy it's my time to shine! As a very small background, let me just say that I hate, hate, wearing creams and shit on my body. I just can't stand any feeling of greasyness, or being-there-ness, that even sunscreens that marketed themselves as "non-greasy" left on my skin.

The obvious first choice for anyone in the western hemisphere, who realises that quiality needs to be paid for, and the little time it takes to research your options will be time well spent in terms of comfort and efficacy, would be the face sunscreens line from La Roche-Posay. Compared to most any and all other sunscreens (with very few exceptions), and certainly with trying to grab whatever the pharmacist might recommend on an impromptu shopping visit, it just blows them out of the water. It's light, leaves a soft and silky feeling on your face, and it's not too uncomfortable.

That said, I will confess that when that was my primary sunscreen, I only ever managed to get myself to use it when I would be doing some activity that exposed me directly to the sun. Trekking, the beach... which was not ideal, considering that in the summer in southwestern Europe, the sun is a bitch, and even indirect UVA radiation will work it's aging magic over time. So I decided to do some research.

And holy shit, did I hit the jackpot, on a trip to Thailand where I found a mythical product that I had only ever read about online. It made all the difference in the world. Literally about 2 minutes from application, I felt nothing on my face. This made my trip so easy, and it saved me from no doubt a megadose of solar radiation that would have amounted to many months of regular exposure at home. It's even cheaper than the stuff from around here, and it turns out that a couple of companies (those that I link) will readily ship it for free. There's another presentation, and I've tried both, and honestly cannot tell the difference in terms of anything, but there you go. The only "caveat" is that it's not waterproof, but needless to say, that's almost completely irrelevant when talking about a daily suncreen. I'll use the other stuff when I need to go to the beach.

So there you go, a cheap and "perfect" sunscreen that even the most stickiness-averse man can and should use, that's even super-cheap to boot.
