I'm actually thinking of replacing my cigarette lighter with something like this, as I currently don't have an available USB port on my dash.
That should probably avoid the problem you had, right?
I was on that path for a minute, but since I'll always want to plug my 'phone in for charging, seems like wireless adds a level of complexity (and RF chatter) to be avoided.
