From my experience, the biggest obstacle for amateur photographer is to understand how picture composition works, and why it is one of the most important things to learn and practice.
The technical aspects of modern photography (sharpness, good exposure and contrast etc) are the easiest things to learn - everybody with a modern DSLR should be able to use his/her camera after a few weeks to produce decent pictures, at least from a technical aspect.

And forgive me for saying that, but it seems you have no clue regarding composition and framing. You just centred your subject in the middle of the frame and hit the shutter. And even then, the picture is tilted.

These two books explain most aspects of photography very well: Learning to Photograph Volume One and Volume Two.
Buy them. Especially Volume 2: Visual Concepts and Composition.

My best advice would be to buy a few books about photography and read them. Then shoot a few hundred pictures and come back with the best of them.
This picture has so many typical beginner shortcomings that it is apparent for me that you have (almost) no clue what you are doing. Of course this is normal, nobody is born with knowledge about photographic theory, but just throwing a few sentences your way won't help you.

These two books are very comprehensive and useful:
