I have [these $20 ones] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DXQTCQL/ref=cm_sw_r_fm_apa_i_h9e0DbQQXGWMY). I don't run so I can't speak on that but they stay in my ears nicely for lifting and the elliptical.
These have worked very well for me
I put my phone in a water proof case in my pocket and then use air pods. There is hardly any chance i'll fall in so I am comfortable using the air pods but for you i'd recommend put the phone in your pocket in a waterproof bag and then just get a cheap bluetooth headphones where it's no big deal if they do get lost. I've got a 7 and have been using the adapter from apple a couple of times a week since I got it (three years ago in December). No issues there. I also have a set of these that work very well, and came with 4 different sizes of rubbers for different size ear holes.

I use cheapo ones that are available basically everywhere. These ones. A bunch of companies slap their logo on the same cheap earbuds. The first pair I owned lasted about one year and the sound quality is great. I don't like to buy expensive headphones because they don't seem to last longer and the sound quality is the same to me.
