Its no problem! they are easy to restore! http://www.thekitchn.com/how-to-restore-a-rusty-cast-iron-skillet-cleaning-lessons-from-the-kitchn-203086

The only time you use soap on one is when your stripping the season off or restoring it. Give it a good steel wool scrub down to get all the flaky parts off re season and just throw it back in the oven. It doesn't have to be a self cleaning oven. I got my self a stiff brissle brush like this to clean it with after use. Wait for it to cool first a bit then you can run it under warm water and give it a scrub. apply a BIT of oil (veggie, canola, or olive will work) spread it around with a paper towel a bit, you can even throw it back on the stove top for a few minutes to let the oil really get in there.

Lots of personal preferences as well as techniques to deal with humid climates, etc. The FAQ has a nice section on cleaning and care.

Personally, I just use hot tap water and a Lodge scraper and/or Lodge's scrub brush after the pan has cooled down. If something is sticking, I let it soak for 15-20 minutes, and it just wipes out. Then I dry it with a towel, heat it for a few minutes on a low burner to remove moisture, and apply a very light coating of vegetable oil for protection.

Feel free to use soap if you want. I don't find it necessary, but it won't hurt your seasoning.

Not really.

Let the pan cool, give it a quick scrub, and a quick dry out with a paper towel. Just about anything apart from melted cheese will come off a seasoned pan like a dream. You can even skip the drying if the heating element or oven is still warm enough to evaporate the moisture. It takes about . . . . 30-45 seconds?

And honestly - if it's fat that's in the pan, I am likely to leave the mess overnight and then give it a quick scrub before I use it to make my morning eggs.

I second the chainmail srcubber - I use this one (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00N7DCCEO) when I need something more than the brush (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00G0T3CE6/)

I cook all my meat at home and cook it to medium but I'll be becoming less of a meat eater soon.

No soup for you!
