I'm just going through a similar injury (same finger) but mine was def worse. I ended up taking almost two months off to let the damn thing heal. I went to PT for it as well and the one thing they told me was that you need to keep bending and moving the finger.

As for tape, I have done it but it's kind of a PITA. I recently picked up a pair of these based on a teammates recommendation and they have worked really well so far.
