I bought a magnetic adapter for my Z2 that plugs into a micro USB cable and connects to the side of the phone. I don't have to open the flap anymore.

If this ends up being official like the article suggests, it would flash like a stock ROM - without needing root or an unlocked bootloader. It wouldn't void the warranty as far as I could tell.

Also, magnetic charging port. I would rather have this than Qi charging. I bought a wireless charging dock for my nexus 5, but I would rather just use a magnetic cord that I don't have to fiddle with to make sure its on the dock the right way to charge.

I plan on getting one alongside a z3 if I go that route.

I havent tried the DK48 yet but I did get the Magnector X today and I would just warn you that the magnet is somewhat weak and if you have a case on the phone it has an even more loose connection. :\ Kind of dissapointed with it but it gets the job done at least. I plan on getting the DK48 soon though.

This magnetic charging adapter is awesome. Now I don't have to buy all new charging chords for my house and car and it has a really, really strong magnet.

The design should work, but can't vouch for the quality of the cable.

Also, contrary to how it looks at first glance, the mag connector is not reversible if you look closely. One of the contacts has a wider plastic nub than the others. So you gotta make sure you're connecting the right direction. From the picture of this, that appears to be with the cord headed toward the bottom of the device, if looking at the screen. You probably already knew that, but just fyi in case.

I got lucky (ish), my massively overpriced Z3 in Japan came with the magnetic dock at least, so I just use that for now, otherwise I'd be able to offer you a review on these.

My gf has the Z1 Compact and the magnetic charger thing, while proprietary, does have a lot of imitators out there that work fine. She bought an adapter (no dock, just the magnetic charger part) for like $15 and it works really well. It has a strong magnet so it doesn't fall off easily, yet if you want to disconnect it, it's not trouble either.

Skip the dock, get this instead. Or: full cable version

The left side of the phone has two pins and a magnetic strip for a magnetic charger. You can get the cable or use a dock to charge it this way. It lets you charge the phone without having to open the flaps.

Oh man do I know how you feel!

Sony was taking what felt like forever to ship, so by a random coincidence I checked my carrier's website (wind). And I swear my heart skipped a beat when I saw it in stock.

Quickly cancelled my order and drove down and made a B-line for the Z3.
It was one of those occasions where everything worked out perfect.

And now my Z3 and I are living happily ever after.

I'm on my 3rd day and here are some things I wanna share (because I love talking about this thing
Getting 8-9 hours of Screen on Time (no stamina mode yet) just regular usage, youtube videos, texting, whatsapp, etc (wifi on, location on battery saving)
Disable the Sony apps theyre pretty much pointless

Consider buying This I just got mine yesterday, works perfectly. It goes ontop of your sony charger and it'll save your flaps

• And for the love of god please use a barometer app before you decide to jump into water with this thing, I've just seen too many posts here and if that happened to me I would just die a little inside

sorry I don't know every cable out there but people giving it bad reviews and say
