I guess you’re right about the specialized pieces, especially for this set in particular, but there are plenty of pokemon that don’t use specialized pieces, and a lot of the ones that do are singular things like Pikachu’s tail, which in my opinion don’t value the extra dollars tacked on. You could argue the price is for the prints as well, but nowadays every mega set has really high-quality prints, so that’s the standard now anyway. I personally don’t pay as much attention to the 10 cent rule and sway more towards volume of stuff, and in my mind I don’t equate 9 little pokemon, to, say, a big set like this of a similar price
Even the Jumbo Pikachu’s retail was only $50, so I just don’t think this set containing half the amount of pieces (and a very small fraction of the actual volume of plastic) should cost even more than the bigger set
