I've switched to trail running shoes instead of heavy hiking boots and my feet are much happier.

I also use the Merrell glove: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07D5RF4TY/ for day-hiking when my pack is light; these are super lightweight, barefoot-style that take a little getting used to, but I like being able to feel the trail.
