Does that...matter? I know what a fuse does, and I realize we're directly hooking a battery to my cell phone. So it seems like it has value, but none of the other products have one. Is it not needed?
So far until a better idea is proposed my two favourite options are:

I would like to hear pros and cont, specially regarding rain and inadvertent battery discharging due to the installation.
Obviously the first option is simpler, but I don't want to have extra cabling and I am specially worried about battery drainage.

the sae is just a common connector type. this is the connector that i have leading to my battery:

basically the usb component has a resistor in there that's slowly draining your battery. a physical switch will completely break the connection to the battery
