Would you say this would work? I know its probably not as good as the Finnex, but I am trying not to spend too much.
I'm not sure about that light. It looks likes it's more for freshwater aquariums and it's a retrofit for an existing aquarium hood that uses to or to bulbs.

They also have some cheaper ones on sites like eBay (search something like "165w full spectrum led reef light" ) but I'd feel safer getting one from Amazon that's prime shipping and has a bunch of good reviews. With lighting usually you get what you pay for.

If you want corals you should shoot for an led fixture that uses 3w LEDs.
As for the filter they are right that live rock is your main source of filtration. It converts most of the really toxic by products (ammonia and nitrites) to less toxic nitrates. Then replacing 10% of the salt water a week gets the ammonia out of the system.
And they are also correct that traditional filter media can and will trap nitrates if not changed often; however if you just use filter floss (poly fill) and change it every 3-5 days (I've gone 2 weeks without issue before but it's not ideal) it helps remove particulates in the water. Also runnimg activated carbon (e.g. Chemipure blue or chemipure elite) can help with water quality especially if you aren't super strict with the water changes every 5-7 days.
No need to change water during the cycle, just keep topping off with ro/di or distilled water as evaporation occurs.
I use a small Jungle Dawn LED inside the stock ExoTerra hood on my setup. it provides a crazy amount of light while remaining cool to the touch and not cheaping out on the color spectrum. My plants arent particularly picky (just some bromeliads, Philodendron, Pilea, moss etc) but theyre growing really nicely. If the form factor isnt what your after, the same site has some other options from Current USA, who make a lot of very well-regarded lights for aquarium hobby.

More generally, any LED/flourescent light intended to grow plants will be fine, since dart frogs are ambivalent to UVB, and heating is often easier to accomplish with an under-tank heater and a thermostat. Amazon has tons of great aquarium lights ranging from the $20 Chinese ones (a buddy of mine runs this on his big ExoTerra with tincts) up to much pricier options from more well-established brands and plenty of stuff intended for herps. Just scope out a good mix of price and form factor.

ok. for lights, for lights, i have 3 blue and 1 white of these.
i also have one of these in addition to the other LEDs i linked
so far, i have one piece of SPS growing that has not lost color. im planning on adding a few 12" blues on each side and getting a dimmer controller.
im making a brisket right now but will take pix of my setup and show you what im running.
for filtration, i have about 30# live rock, 60# sand and a coralife superskimmer rated for a 65 gallon tank. im not sure if im going to add a sump/fuge. i may, my stand has plenty of room for one.
