Generally, I go with if you have something available already is the best, not having to buy something new is good, but low power consumption is a good feature, you may end up spending less overall with a lower power device than say an old desktop. It also depends on if you want to do anything else through it as well. I have NUC and an x220 that get used for home theatre (samba share), but both can also be an emulator and game system for lower spec games, and the laptop is, well, also a laptop. I don't have any issues using file folder to browse (choose large or extra large icons), but I'm meticulous with my file organization and really like the controller I got for it.
