Watch in production order only, especially in this case considering Unicorn is very reliant on the 1979 anime, Zeta Gundam, ZZ Gundam, and CCA in terms of its plot.

Ah 0079 how I love you. I finished this back in August but am more then happy to go back through it epescially with these fancy ass [Blu-rays.] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B013TOVA98/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1451860108&sr=8-1&pi=SY200_QL40&keywords=gundam+blu+ray&dpPl=1&dpID=61Aesj38MYL&ref=plSrch) I'm only gonna comment on my favorite episodes however since I know I can't keep up with a daily rewatch because of work and school. But besides all that I want to talk about the best part of this show, the Zaku's. The Zaku's are a true testament to how much of a game changer the first Gundam was for the Mecha genre. Before Gundam Mecha was primarily a show that apealed mainly to children. It had its colorful heroes and villians such as [Mazinger Z] (http://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/mazinger/images/f/fc/Old_Mazinger_Z_Wallpaper.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20140211204336) and [Getter Robo] (http://vignette4.wikia.nocookie.net/mazinger/images/0/04/Getter.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20130606232814) but the Zaku was something more. A singular color scheme that wasnt suppose to pop out. It wasn't a simple toy that a kid could buy off the shelf (even though they can), it was a weapon. The Gundam was originally to be an all white machine. No red, blue, or yellow to be seen. Saddly its the hero and the hero has to stand out amongst the rest. And while the more later suit don't hold this same principle, its the Zaku that stands out the most.

So to all the new pilots welcome. To the veterans that have stood the test of time I bow. Let us endure this bloody year long war togethor and see what fantastic new adventures await us beyond the tears of time! FIRE UP YOUR SOUL, GUNDAM!

I am shocked, shocked I tell you. 2:28 in and there are already war crimes. This... this is not the 0079 I remembered. I had watched the show before but it must have been at least +10 years ago.

The animation is surprisingly tolerable. I guess after falling in love with Legend of Galactic heroes I can shrug this kind of animation off now whereas younger me would have been bugged by it.

As for my personal reactions its similar to many in the thread. I didn't know that Haro could climb stairs, I didn't know they dated back to 0079, I found the reading the manual/instant ass kicking thing humorous, and didn't expect everything to be so grim-dark.

Thanks OP for organizing this re-watch. Bit late because I had to 'acquire' the first episode after seeing this thread but fear not, I have ordered BD Collection 1 from Amazon and it qualified for Prime free overnight shipping!

I'd say start with either the movie compilations or full series of Mobile Suit Gundam from 1979. After that, here is the list of timelines for animated works from the various Gundam series from the both the Universal Century (the Universe the original series is based in) and the Alternate Universes (G Gundam, Wing, IBO, etc).

I recommend you watch the series from the Universal Century timeline in release order, but if you want to watch in chronological, that's up to you.

Have fun!

Sort of. you can find The original series on blu-ray and DVD at amazon for 40 dollars each half has about 20 episodes and it comes in two parts. To be entirely honest the reason a lot of people Pirate Gundam and anime in general is monetary reasons seeing as to how they can be anywhere from slightly of priced to inflated through the roof.

My recommendation is to not be overwhelmed and just buy a little bit here or there. Or start saving up and buy multiple series in bulk. Amazon.com has a bunch of the shows for about 80 dollars for a more or less an entire 50 episode series. But it's broken up into halves or 25 episodes each for 40 dollars. This is a link to Amazon is you can find it cheaper on there go right ahead and get it for whatever you feel comfortable with. https://www.amazon.com/Mobile-Gundam-First-Blu-ray-Collection/dp/B013TOVA98/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1479728810&sr=8-1&keywords=gundam+blu+ray
