Hope I'm not too late, but as someone who enjoys fantasy games and shooters, I'd recommend the following:

  • Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater (a mature soldier-spy type game - thematically similar to Battlefield/Call of Duty)
  • Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate (b/c he likes Dragon Age)
  • Fire Emblem Awakening (b/c he is interested in Persona Q and League of Legends)
  • Shin Megami Tensei IV (b/c he is interested in Persona Q - Persona and SMT use the same battle system in different storylines/settings)

    ____
    Recommendations for no particular reason

  • Mario Kart 7 - the quintessential 3DS game for all ages, every 3ds should have one.
  • Super Mario 3D Land - difficult at times, but always fun, I always thought "Mario games are for kids" until I played this game.
  • Rune Factory 4 - If he likes RPGs, he'll love this.
  • Etrian Odyssey IV: Legends of the Titan - Persona Q was modeled after this game, but I'm listing it down here because he may feel more at home in the world of Shin Megami Tensei IV listed above.

    __
PS. I see a lot of people mentioning Pokemon, but if he hasn't shown interest in Pokemon by now he may not like it. It seemed like the perfect game for me but I just couldn't enjoy it half as much as everyone else does.

Looks like Amazon is price matching.

Not sure if I affiliate-tagged that properly.

It's the same price on Amazon, has been for a couple of weeks now.

If anyone wants a simulation of wearing dead animal fur, head over to r/monsterhunter. The whole point of Monster Hunter is to wear the skin of what you hunt.

> Currently on my 3ds I have monster hunter 3U

I'm sure you'd be okay double-dipping for Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate on Wii U?

You can transfer your game save freely between both versions of the game, plus you can go online and hunt with other people!

Mm.. as it stands right now, your best bet would be Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate. The reviews on amazon are pretty spot on if you want more feedback.

Though the 3DS version only has local online feature, while the WiiU version is global online. I think.. every other game in the series has had its online shut down due to age. Though if you like the gameplay itself its definitely worth checking out the rest.

3DS game: Monster Hunter :) I would love to play this game! It appears to be "The bee's knees!" It doesn't get much cooler than taking down giant monsters!

My Favorite game is The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker

Orlando/Kissimmee :D

Probably a hotel or my great aunts!

I would likely take a 3DSXL to play Pokemon, Monster Hunter 3, and Animal Crossing New Leaf to keep me entertained while I'm not exploring haha. Or I'd take a skateboard to learn to skate with haha. There's some sweet parks around there.

Probably my dad or someone else I know.

Here are some of my recommendations

  • Mario Golf World Tour $19 on Amazon; there is ton of content in this game and if you played the old mario golf on the N64 you will love it. Great for quick sessions.
  • Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate $39 on amazon (or 3 Ultimate $19 if you want cheaper); This game takes a bit to get into, but both 4U and 3U do a decent job teaching you the ropes. This game has hundreds of hours of content and is a really unique game. 4U does have online multiplayer so that extends the life greatly. Also 4U has new FREE DLC each Friday at the beginning of each month. IF you do get this and need help please PM. I love help people get into the game.
  • Fantasy Life $38 on amazon; This game is a mix between Animal Crossing and Harvest Moon. The basics of the game is you pick a 'life' you want to play like a fisher, or a mage, or a alchemist and just do stuff. If you get bored of the 'life' you choose you can switch whenever you want. Again a game with hundreds of hours of content.

I won't go into the DS recommendations...since dang there are TONS of amazing games for that system.

I know it's been asked a million times, and I have done some searches on it. But i'd like to ask myself. If I could buy 2 games right now, which ones should I get? A XL is on it's way as we speak and I plan on getting mostly long and/or replayable games for it as PC is my 'Buy lots of cheap games and play a little of all of then' and consoles for me are more 'Buy a few really good games and play them a lot'.

Ones i'm looking at, as they're on sale at Amazon:

Zelda: Ocarina of Time. I've never played a Zelda game, but a friend has said good things about this.

Super Mario 3D Land: I haven't played a Mario game since the late 90s on a NES, plus i've heard good things about this game.

Mario Kart 7 Another of the games i've hearing 'Must have' from.

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate I've heard good things about this game, but not so much the way it controls on the 3DS, so I want it but I don't want to invest in the CPP right off, so I might have to wait on it.

And finally, Super Street Fighter IV It's at a better sale than the others, but i've heard mixed things about the game itself. Some say it's alright for a casual experience (which is what I am with fighting games anyway) others say it's 'meh'.

Of course, any suggestions are welcome. I know I passed over the RPG games that people love, but I didn't see any on sale.

If you're able to do fast games with difficult combat, you could look at Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate. It is a tough game, but has lots of content and can easily last hundreds of hours.

The only thing is the 3DS version doesn't have online multiplayer, only local wireless.

its was on sale 50% off in the eshop a month ago. fyi the download version takes almost 15000 blocks, so i ended up needing a new SD card too, but it still came out cheaper than $40 retail, and now i have 200k free blocks after transferring all my data. its about $30 on amazon right now, if you'd rather not wait.
