Pro-tip: Ditch popcorn if you can. It's bigger and has fewer innoculation points due to the surface area. Plus it is expensive in comparison to other grains.

I recommend these Oats with the hull on.

Hear me out on this process - it's easy as hell:

--Get a paint strainer (the thin mesh sack like material and place this into a large stock pot with the rim of the strainer stretched around the rim of the pot. Like a big net in the pot.

--Take 8 or 9 quarts of the oats right out of the jug and drop them into the paint strainer inside the pot. Fill with an adequate amount of water and then bring to a rolling boil for 30 minutes or so. Check doneness by squeezing an oat between your nails. If it crushes easily then it is done.

--Turn off heat - grab the lining of the paint strainer from around the pot and pull it all up to have a sack full of oats. Hang this over the sink (or set it in a colander) and let it steam dry for about an hour or so.

--Load your jars and PC for 90 minutes. 8.5ish dry quarts = about 10 Wide Mouth Jars worth of grain.

You could do two loads in a day if you needed. I've churned out 20 jars of spawn on a Sunday before with a single 23 q pressure cooker.

No rinsing. No 24 hour soak. No mess.
