Turns out I received a copy of the "2020" production Sordins by mistake, as an Amazon error. ACE-Instruments is offering to send me an MSA branded version free of charge on rush shipping + a return label for the pair I already have. They've told me that come 2020, all new production Sordins will be sold looking this way.

Should I take the offer? Realistically I like the ones I have now, they work great and are comfortable. As far as I can tell, they are exactly the same as "MSA" Sordins with 5 levels of audio amplification and little to no background noise unless really boosted up on the volume. From a utilitarian standpoint there's no need to send them back at all.

On the other hand, the lizard brain in me wants the "MSA-Sordins" because, you know, the grass is always greener.

Here's a link to a few of the "new production" sordins that they mentioned, what do you think? I kind of want to take the deal just because I'm not going to be able to get the "original MSA-Sordins" anymore after this.

Electronic ear protection.
They work similarly to a combination of Bose Noise Cancelling headphones, traditional insulation based protection and a hearing aid.
Using a simple onboard 'computer'/logic circuit and microphone, the earpro will dramatically reduce the level of loud noises (gunshots, explosions etc) while amplifying quieter noises (footsteps, talking/instruction etc). You can typically hear normal level sound better with electronic earpro on than with your bare ears.
