The MSI GE62 Apache Pro-239 would be perfect for you. It has a very good build quality and performance wise, it would be perfect for those games you will play. It has the GTX 970M graphics card, the powerful i7-6700HQ processor, 12 GB RAM and a brilliabt storage of a 1 TB HDD and 128 GB SSD.

u/The---Technician · 3 pointsr/SuggestALaptop

With all the specs you have laid out..Remember that your budget decides what you can get... $1000 somewhat limits you.. This MSI GE62 Apache Pro-239 does have decent specs and holds the Nvidia gtx 970 graphics card, 12 GB RAM, a powerful i7 quad core 6th generation processor etc, but it is 15.6 inches.

u/thelphelper · 2 pointsr/SuggestALaptop

With a quad core processor and of course 12 GB or more RAM would be ideal this laptop is the laptop of your dreams. A dedicated graphics card I would also recommend as well. This XOTIC MSI GE62 Apache Pro laptop would do an outstanding job in high level gaming . It has an excellent processor for that purpose in the i7 quadcore 6th generation skylake processor , 16 GB RAM which is fantastic and of course it has a wonderful storage of 1 TB HDD in addition to an 128GB M.2 SSD which is extremely fast. It also has a nice dedicated graphics card, solid back-lit keyboard and good touch pad as well as a very good 6 cells battery pack which will give you some decent hours charged. It weighs only 5.3 lbs which should be good for you.

u/LonerIM2 · 2 pointsr/SuggestALaptop

Other than this ASUS K501UW and the Dell Inspiron i7559 I would look into the MSI GE62 Apache Pro mainly because it comes with the more powerful 970M GPU for better gaming performance since you can push your budget a little.

Those MSIs look nice on paper, but their displays are very low quality. In MSI spec language, "eDP Vivid Color 94%" refers to the very low quality Chi Mei N156HGE-EAL LCD, which renders a grayish gradient in place of solid black, and produces an overall washed-out picture. Same display as in this laptop.

I think it is important to prioritize getting a good display, not just satisfying your performance requirements. The difference between a good display and a not-so-good one can be one of the absolute most noticeable things.

---

One of the best values going right now is the Eluktronics N850HK1. Same thing as the Sager NP6852, but cheaper and from a different reseller. It comes with:

  • A GTX 1050 Ti (just like the GL62M, the best GPU you'll get for this price)
  • One of the best 1920x1080 IPS displays there is (The LG LP156WF6-SPB1, to be technical)

EDIT: Model I linked is the $899 1080p+1TB model which is currently sold out. Currently redirects to the $999 4K model, which uses a PenTile not-true-4K display. I would recommend waiting until the $899 1080p+1TB model comes back in stock. There's also a $999 1080p+SSD model.

Other models with decent GPUs and decent displays:

  • Acer Aspire VX 15 ($999, display quality is a lot better than the GL62M but not quite as good as the Eluktronics N850HK1)
  • MSI GE62-239 ($999, similar GPU, display is somewhere between the two)
  • HP Omen 15 (less good value unless you get a discount/coupon)
  • HP Pavilion Power 15 (less good value unless you get a discount/coupon)
  • Lenovo Y520 (should be $899 with GTX 1050 and similar display to the Acer VX 15, when released this month)

Models I would suggest to avoid due to poor quality displays:

  • Dell Inspiron 7000 Gaming (7566 & 7567; 7559 is fine but GPU is lower)
  • Sager NP5855
  • Prostar N855HJ
  • MSI GL62M, models with the "Vivid Color 94%" display
  • MSI GP62MVR, unless the specs specifically state IPS-level
  • ASUS GL502VT, Best Buy model with the 970M
  • ASUS K501UW, ZX53VW, FX502VM, FZ50VW, ZX50VW (update: ZX53VW uses a good display! I was mistaken. The ZX50VW display seems to be the poor one)

If you're less focused on Gaming and GPU, there may be other options worth considering. Check /r/SuggestALaptop for more info.

If your budget is in USD, this MSI notebook would be perfect. In the long run you can add an m.2 SSD for a boot/game drive.

I bought a new laptop with a GTX 970 this week off and it's amazing. Here were the two I was fighting between. If you want to stay as close as you can to the $1k www.CyberPowerPc.com has a great computer with a GTX 965M for that exact price range and they are good computers.

Edit*** I bought the Gigabyte and Found the MSI at a local gaming shop and the Gigabyte was noticeably faster than the MSI.

Dell makes the inspiron 15 7000 with an i7 and a 1050ti in your price range, if you want to stay away from Dell, check out this offering from msi

12 gigs of ram, 970m graphics, and i7 all for 1000 bucks

u/OddLawnGnome · 1 pointr/SuggestALaptop

My suggestion would be from MSI. You don't get as many bells and whistles as the Gigabyte, but you get the same core performance and plenty of upgrade options. Most importantly, you have a laptop from a proven manufacturer who has a long history of making high-quality products.

Thank you for the insight. Upon looking I came across this: https://www.amazon.com/MSI-GE62-Apache-Pro-239-i7-6700HQ/dp/B01D8VJ0B2/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1483048760&sr=1-1&keywords=gaming+laptop+msi+ge62+apache+pro

Since I'm no computer whiz, these look the same to me but because of price I can only assume they're different. Would you be so kind as to explain the differences? Thanks again.

What about this?

u/trainedtech88 · 1 pointr/SuggestALaptop

hey this MSI GE62 Apache Pro-239 seem pretty good however its without the extra speed that the ssd that you requested has. it has a great GTX 970M gpu for all your games, a 6th gen intel core i7-6700HQ cpu, 12GB ram memory and the built quality is also pretty awesome.

u/greatwhitepine · 1 pointr/pathofexile

This works well for me... 6th gen I7, 970m and 16GB ram. Unfortunately not 500$ though but used maybe. It's 1.5 years old now.

MSI GE62 Apache Pro-239 15.6" GAMING LAPTOP NOTEBOOK GTX 970M i7-6700HQ 12GB 1TB WINDOWS 10 USB TYPE-C FULL COLOR KEYBOARD https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01D8VJ0B2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_nNWOybVZB2EDS

One of the best deals I have seen. Note that it's 970M is quite a step up from a 960M card. Have a look around and see if you can find a better deal for the same card.

u/cbegs88 · 1 pointr/wow

Ok well if that can't can this msi laptop? I'm just looking for a laptop that can run medium/high settings and get between 30-60fps.

oh i also saw this one that wasnt listed on the wiki recs, what do you think about it? https://www.amazon.com/MSI-GE62-Apache-Pro-004-i7-6700HQ/dp/B01D8VJ0B2?th=1

u/JoeHambley · 1 pointr/SuggestALaptop

Yeah I've been reading some reviews and it seems like the asus rog gets really hot which is something I really don't like in laptops.. Since the msi linked above is 17 inch what about this https://www.amazon.com/MSI-GE62-Apache-Pro-239-i7-6700HQ/dp/B01D8VJ0B2/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1466983796&sr=1-1&keywords=Msi+Apache+Gtx+970 Specs look good, I would take the bottom off and install a 512 gb 850 Evo if there was space and rest of specs look suitable? Build quality and cooling also good? What do you think, reason I'm asking is $1299 looks cheap to me

u/techneeeq · 1 pointr/SuggestALaptop

Get either the MSI GE62 Apache Pro-239 or this Eluktronics Pro Laptop, if you prefer a 17 inches screen which is very big, then go for this Asus Rog

u/construktz · 1 pointr/SuggestALaptop

Not sure if you would consider it an ugly gaming laptop, but this Asus ROG GL502VY has great portability, specs, and has tons of RAM/SSD options for you to choose from. It also has an Nvidia GTX 980M to handle all of your gaming without sacrificing battery life, getting up to 8 hours.

It does still have gamer branding on it, though. But just a badge on the back and red WASD keys. It's not so obnoxious like an MSI GE62

u/ZhunCn · 1 pointr/3dshacks

Looks like a MSI gaming laptop, like the GE62 APACHE PRO

Based on the sides, it might be the bigger version GE72 APACHE PRO

u/Sayakai · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

In terms of GPU power, you'd get about twice the power. That would probably be the main benefit in gaming.

But keep in mind: That's still a change from "really low" to "low". I don't know what you're supposed to pay for this, but IMO it's not worth $1k. Not when you can get this MSI for the same price, with a GPU that's again twice as fast as the HP's. Keep in mind, this isn't the result of laptop research either (I'm not that great with laptops, the guys at /r/suggestalaptop are probably more qualified), so something even better may be out there.
