My dogs wear these rope collars around the house so they always have ID tags on them. You can't attach a leash so I just switch them to a regular collar (which has ID and rabies tags) for walks or going places like the vet, and otherwise only remove them when the dogs are crated. The rope collars don't mat my husky mix's fur and wearing the regular collar for short periods of time doesn't cause dents either.
This collar was designed for a shiba for exactly that reason. It isn't for use with a leash though, it's to hold tags. I made my own from a strand of paracord.
