There are tons of books out there about advice for women in the workplace. One book that was recommended to me and that I found really interesting was Nice Girls Don't Get the Corner Office by Lois Frankel.
I've heard good things about this book, Nice Girls Don't Get the Corner Office. Also I would take the pressure off yourself to be a symbol to others for a while. Just concentrate on kicking ass at your job and don't imagine people are looking to you to be standard bearer. It's hard enough to get used to any new position.
