old fasion tally on paper(a tick for every word and grouped in fives), but im sure there is an app for that. Maybe one of those counters that adds one after every click like this one could be helpful for some.
If you have to count a lot of something, there is a gadget for that. Or group them (like, by tens or by how many fit on each shelf) and count the groups. Or the fastest way: count them by weighing the whole lot (in a bin or box if needed, just remember to tare) and then dividing by the average weight!
