It's not from kava, but it could be from what you consumed. Kava is a beverage made from water and the ground root and rhizome of the kava plant. Kavalactones extracted from kava are not kava in the same way that this isn't coffee and this isn't wine.
Extracts allow vendors to conceal the quality (and identity!!) of the source material, but even when kavalactones are extracted from good quality kava, the fact stands that kavalactone extracts don't share the same safety profile as kava, and it's unfortunate that vendors continue to falsely label their extracts as kava.
As you can read in the sticky at the top of this subreddit, kavalactone extracts are not recommended. Buy some kava from a reputable vendor.
