I have used foam blocks like these when camping to line the entire tent floor:

They made it more comfortable for everyone, especially the kids who rolled around a lot. Also, the toddler aged ones had a harder time with staying in their own sleeping bag, so it was often a combo of them in a non-mummy bag with me or unzipping a sleeping bag and using as a quilt. They also wore winter-style jammies during summer camping (fleece with footies, for example).
You might want to use small carabiners on the tent zippers if you are a heavier sleeper...that way it deters any wandering if they wake up early.
You'd also be amazed at all the fun stuff for a toddler within 20 feet of your campsite - digging for worms, finding bugs under rocks, smelling flowers, collecting different leaves, having sword fights with sticks, peeing on trees, etc.
