Redbones in Somerville is pretty good. Sweet Cheeks by Fenway is alright but their sauces and sides are off. I'm from Georgia where I was spoiled with good BBQ joints, so I tend to avoid them here as I know I'm picky. I have one of these guys to smoke meat in my apartment, its pretty awesome.

no idea if that works but you should check something like it out. (look up reviews) also imho if i can't smoke a pork shoulder i find a oven on 225f not wrapped works actually better texture wise(you get a crust burnt ends) then a slow cooker. it does take 10 hours though

You can get these stovetop smokers in the US, it looks to be the same concept. great for smaller portions, we use it for chicken tenders, salmon, scallops and more.

Sure. If you're using it indoors, it does give off a little smoke, so make sure you have a decent ventilation situation (range fan, windows open, etc)

There are stovetop smokers that give off very little or no smoke. This is the one I use: http://www.amazon.com/Nordic-Ware-Indoor-Outdoor-Kettle/dp/B007ZKUVPC/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1419693170&sr=8-2&keywords=stovetop+smokers I find it works great. They can be used indoors or outdoors.

I stupidly got the wayyyyyy overpriced Williams Sonoma one years ago (didn’t realize probe thermometers were a thing so thought it was some unique find) but any one will do. The lid doesn’t close that tightly so the wire just slips under the open end.

Also, I just picked up a Nordic Ware stovetop smoker in addition. I got another one because, while the Cameron’s says it heats to about 375 this one has a thermometer so I can go lo and slow as most traditional smoking recipes dictate. Turns out it’s just a meat thermometer in a hole in the lid so you may be able to jury rig putting a meat thermometer in the open end (not touching the food) to get temperature control.
