Reddit reviews OGIO Renegade RSS Day Pack, Large, Black Pindot

I have this one Ogio. It's extra cool because it has an electrical drawing on the inner liner, but aside from that it's a great backpack with useful pockets on the outside. I keep my safety glasses in one (with sunglasses in the normal spot on top because they're more fragile), an Ethernet cable in the other, and random adapters in the third. The last one will hold a good sized water bottle. It's not cheap, but it's served me well through years of heavy travel. For a while I was traveling with two laptops, and it handled the weight very well.

Suggestions below are at the $100 price point (+/-$20).

If you are very hard on bags and looking for an all-in-one solution for school/work/hiking/camping/etc.

  • (Applies to both) Pros: Good overall size with 15" laptop support (may be able to fit a 17" if it's slim), material quality is pretty good and both use fairly high quality nylon, solid zippers, lots of organization pockets in all compartments (Pack of All Trades is superior of 2), dedicated tablet sleeve inside middle pocket, dedicated pocket to hold a water bottle (with elastic cable to secure), dedicated power supply pockets that will fit a full size (i.e. 90w Lenovo, Apple MBP, or 90w Dell, etc.) power supply and the "Pack of All Trades" bag is capable of carrying 2 full size 15" laptops in the laptop pocket if you have to, fleece-padded eyeglass/sunglass pocket at top of back for convenience, "Pack of all Trades" has an external dedicated through "pocket" on the back-padding to easily attach to roller-bag with extendable handle, both bags have good back padding which have an air-flow design to reduce back sweat
    
  • (Applies to both) Cons: Overall stitching quality could be better/stronger thread along top of bag where back straps meet the bag and also on the straps are sewn together where the removable chest strap attaches, footprint of bags even when relatively empty is large with no way to condense (no straps that condense bag when not full), when set on the ground the bags are generally front heavy even when holding a laptop and like to tip, no hydration pocket

Seriously this bag is amazing. They've thought of everything. It has a built in hard pocket at the top for glasses or fragile items. Laptop protection unlike any other, a million pockets, easy to pack and retrieve items, endlessly versatile.

Shoulder and chest straps are exceptional, padded stiff back panel - when worm correctly, weight is evenly distributed across your body making it feel lighter.

Buy one now. :)

I personally feel it is the perfect bag for travel, work, and school.

I just ordered this Ogio Renegade RSS backpack but I haven't recieved it yet. I think it looks nice and I also think it looks large enough to hold all of your belongings pictured. Maybe check it out? I've heard good things of it and can report back when I get it.

Those straps and definitely gonna give if you carry anything remotely heavy in it with how they're mounted. And the outside material and zippers look very cheap in general.

I would personally recommend an Ogio, especially if you carry a laptop with you. There is some solid protection built in there. And as you can see the straps are unified where they attach so it seems a lot more sturdy (the bag you actually linked does this too). Zippers are big and sturdy. More of a professional look than a typical book bag. Only thing I don't like is how they do the water bottle pocket - it makes it stick out a little and I always bump stuff with it.

The Ogio renegade backpack is what I use for university. Can carry laptop, notebooks, electrical components, and some clothes and not feel heavy. Sometimes on sale for ~80$
