I suggest you invest in a water blade as well (something like this although cheaper ones can be found). Those things are magic and get a lot of the water off before you go to towel it dry (so you don't get water spots and the car looks good for your boss).

My method (costs about $4 in my area) is Soap, Wax, and Rinse. Although I might just start to do just soap and wax if your method works. After I get out I will use my waterblade on the car and dry with microfibre towels then I'll do detailing with Spray Wax or Quick Detailer (QD). Lately I've been really liking the Griots Garage stuff but before when I was more naive I would get the Meguiars or Mothers stuff (whatever happened to be on sale that week) from Canadian Tire or whatever.

BTW, once in a while before I start washing, I'll pop the hood and spray the engine bay down with a citrus degreaser (or your choice, just make sure it's OK to use on rubber and stuff like that) and wash the engine bay with high pressure water afterwards then begin with the regular wash.

I also use tire shine (gel and apply a thin layer to make sure I don't get any slinging and the stuff I use gets me a slightly glossy satin finish, almost like it was out of the showroom) but it's up to you what kind of finish you like on your tires, if any at all.

You could try a car squeegee quickly followed up by toweling.
