I'm not /u/AnonymousTurker, but "Penny-Wise" is the long-running journal of the Early American Coppers Club. Each issue contains articles on early American coppers:
Dr. William H. Sheldon was a contributor to Penny-Wise and an important figure in numismatics. He developed the Sheldon scale which is the numerical grade you see assigned to coins to describe their condition. He was also an expert on early American copper coins and cataloged their many die combinations and varieties.
Sheldon wrote a book called Penny Whimsy, which is considered to be an authoritative work on US Large Cents from 1793-1814. It was first published in 1949, has gone through a number of printings and editions. It may be currently out of print but it's considered a must-have for collectors of US large cents.
