I love my double edged razer; been using it for a couple years now and it does indeed perform similar to OP's post. Very little of the actual blade is exposed, so while you can get cut, it won't be deep if if you're being intentional.

The "Perfecto" razor,stand & brush kit is a real deal for any shaver. This razor/brush do one heck of a great job for ANY shaver new or experienced. This kit is a great way to get into DE shaving.
