I picked up the Norelco 1250 Sensotouch 3D last week after an airline lost my luggage and I found myself in need of a new shaver. It's expensive, but my previous electric shaver (another Norelco, probably one of their lower-end models) lasted me almost a decade so I wasn't afraid of putting down some dough for something I knew would last me that long.

This model has a MUCH closer shave than my last model and to be honest it seems to be just about on par with a razor. Also, last year I used a foil shaver for 3 months while I was on an extended trip and I vastly prefer rotary shavers (even the lower end models) to the foil shaver, the foil shaver missed hairs often and didn't provide a very close shave.

I can't help with a direct comparison of Norelco's current lineup (2D vs 3D or whatever) but I can just say that I'm satisfied with mine.

Allow me to offer a contrary opinion to the wicked edge masses. I do not like the idea of a blade that is able to cut me badly being so close to my face, held back by only my skill. (maybe i just don't trust myself that much) and i sure as shootin wouldn't trust it anywhere else on my body.

So buy a trimmer if you want to keep the manscaping in check. I'd advise against a full on blade body shave since upkeep and stubble regrowth are more of a hassle than i think its worth, (but that's a matter of individual preference i suppose)

I have an electric razor for my face and a trimmer do-dad for other places.
