Our kid is the same way. The remote controls? Loves them. The toy remote control that lights up and plays songs that my mom got him as a substitute? No interest. We got this as a hand-me-down from a friend. "Meh." The chewed up tennis balls that belong to the dog? BEST TOY EVER.

We did Santa pics with my 6 month old last year. SO CUTE.

My kid turned one a few months ago, and he got a ton of toys from friends and family. My suggestion would be to pick one thing that you know your kid will really love, and get her that. If you have family, there will be no shortage of presents for her.

My kid really loved his ball popper, his drum set, and anything that makes music.

Something that I always buy for 9 months up to 3 years for kids on various occasions is called the Busy Ball Popper by Playskool. It is a very sweet and engaging toy and I have yet to see a child that isn't delighted by it.

At 1, you never know what they'll like. Unless it makes an annoying noise. . . . then they are guaranteed to love it. The louder the better. My kid has this and this and loved them both. Make sure you include batteries.
