I'm not sure on previous releases but for SWSH the guidebook is being released soon after the game, but the pokedex book isn't for another month. Although because of the pokedex situation there likely won't be a big national dex book, so I'd suggest getting the one for Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon if you want a coffee table type book.

The Barnes and Nobles books, although licensed, are not made by anyone working on the Pokémon Games. I have one and it has tons of errors and such.
