I use what is probably the most basic thing imaginable. Not fancy, but weighs nothing and is cheap...

I got one of these 1.6 oz

I’ve been using this cheap thing from amazon, it doesn’t come with the mug but you don’t have to worry about filters! Has worked very well so far

I like this filter better, because the grinds stay in the water.

Hi Sio,

I'm glad that you found peace. I am getting there myself. Thanks for book referral and the inspiration that we can get to a point of not hating ourselves.

I would however still want to kill myself if I had to drink instant coffee! Do yourself a favor and buy a bag of coffee and a Primula coffee filter. This makes an amazing cup every time and only takes a few minutes and very little mess.

((Hugs))

This little brewer works pretty well.

I've got this product which I'm pretty sure is not steel: https://www.amazon.com/Primula-Single-Serve-Coffee-Buddy/dp/B0087SPTLC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1537191694&sr=8-1&keywords=brew+buddy&dpID=41XGtp1pvGL&preST=_SY300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch

I imagine whatever they use would be good for you (or alternatively, just buy one of these, they work perfect for camping coffee)

I use this. Boil a little water in my kettle and pour it over the grinds. Easy, yummy and caffeiny.

Mentioned in another comment but this one is even smaller than a funnel (packs flat):

I wasn't camping but pack as little as possible for travel. I was very pleasantly surprised what I got from this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0087SPTLC/ with some coffee I hand ground and whatever temp hot water came out of the machine in the hotel room. I know, no precision whatsoever and the thought of nylon sitting in my coffee made me a little queasy.

But way, way, way better than the generic single pod or even the Keurig machine from my last two hotel stays.

As a student, with limited income and all that jazz - you need one of these!. Make it and take it, yo. Hot water is free at all the convenience stores and coffee shops ;)

this guy is pretty cool too.

I have this coffee brew buddy. Set it on top of you mug, add one tablespoon preferred grounds (I like a light roast breakfast blend with French vanilla creamer), pour hot water over the grounds until mug is full, wait thirty seconds, remove brew buddy, add creamer, enjoy. No machines to clutter your countertop and portable.

Best purchase ever. Works perfectly. Boil water, put this thing over a ceramic mug, scoop in the coffee, and pour the water into the mug. 3-5 minutes later you've got your coffee/espresso. Easy to clean, no pumps/moldy water reservoirs/having a giant thing on your counter top.

This thing makes OK coffee. I've given up and just do Via or Cafe Bustelo instant. I just make it real strong and sweet with powdered whole milk.

Check this out. I used to do the same until I grabbed this Lil guy. Run hot water through it and let it steep a bit.

I got this as a gift and it is amazing. Makes coffee right into mug/cup, super fast, light, and takes up almost no space!

The cloth thing is a pain with any kind of continuous use, but some mesh would work. I was thinking something like this
https://smile.amazon.com/Primula-Single-Serve-Coffee-Buddy/dp/B0087SPTLC/ref=sr_1_30?ie=UTF8&qid=1511125992&sr=8-30&keywords=coffee+filter

Not sure bug netting would work well enough though, maybe some of that coffee filter micro mesh.

A re-usable mesh drip cone that sets on top of your mug. I have this one: https://www.amazon.com/Primula-Coffee-Buddy-Single-Maker/dp/B0087SPTLC . Essentially no weight and space taken up.

Sometimes instant. Sometimes cowboy.

If I wasn't carrying gear for miles I might bring a little french press or all-in-one system like this: https://www.amazon.com/Stanley-Mountain-Vacuum-Coffee-System/dp/B00PUEJGGK
