I've been wanting to get a new setup for over a year now and I've just been given a Pro-Ject Audio Debut Carbon DC Esprit SB with 2M Red Cartridge for Christmas and, while I'm thrilled, I've got some questions. After spending several hours reading r/vinyl and other blogs I feel like I'm more confused now then when I started. For starters...do I just need a pre-amp and then powered speakers and I'm good to go? When will I need a receiver? How will I know if speakers are "powered?" I've got ~$500 to spend right now and I can't decide what to do. I'm starting from scratch (minus a TT obviously). I've looked at so many speakers and pre-amps and receivers I think I've just gotten overloaded. I want to have a setup that I can come home to and sink into, contrary to what I have now, but really only have about $500 to spend. Does anybody have any recommendations? I'm absolutely willing to wait and save, I'd rather listen to nothing for a while if that means getting something noticeably better than what I can currently afford, but I don't want to all of a sudden be spending my entire savings. Sorry if this is too vague or the price range is too large. I appreciate any and all help.

Thanks!
