From experience, I suggest cutting a memory foam mattress with an electric carving knife. Mark the longer line you wish to cut. Span the mattress between two level tables with the marked line directly above the gap between tables. Be careful to keep the knife completely vertical and work from the side where you can be closer to the cut line. Make a second pass if necessary. Repeat with the shorter length.

This 4 star electric carving knife is only $12.20 on amazon at the moment which is a decent price according to the price history site camelcamelcamel.com

Give one of these a try. They are great and cheap enough to have them wherever you need them.

My thought was to use an electric knife, but then I found these posts...

> First take the knife that you don't use often and start cutting into the meat about 10-15 milimeters. It is best to cut all the way around the piece of meat as to provide an even cut. Then take a meat mallet with a smooth side and lightly smack it against the spine of your knife. Do not put too much force into it as it could damage the spine of the knife. Once the spine of the knife is almost flush with the meat, Move the knife and repeat. Do this all the way around the meat. If the chunk of meat has not broken off completely just cut into it with your knife until it does. Then you are free to do with the meat as you wish.

Any recommendations on a good electric knife? Currently I have my eyes on this bad boy but don't know if there's a better one for a bit more.
