I use this tripod and pistol grip head combination for my Nikon AE 10x50 binoculars, which weigh a tiny bit more than yours, and it's very sturdy.

I'm 6'2" and it can get tall enough for me to see up to about 45º while standing without crouching, but the best part is that you can spread the legs out really wide and sit mostly underneath the tripod (in a chair of course) in order to comfortably view straight up.

It's not currently in stock from Amazon (it should return soon), but typically sells for $60-$70.

And I use this tripod adapter.

Cheap or affordable? ;)

I'm a big fan of the Ravelli tripods. Would this be in your price range?

If not, search. They have some great stuff at lower prices.

Try to avoid 'plastic overload' when purchasing tripods.

I just bought a Ravelli tripod at the suggestion of someone on here. Good solid tripod. Drops down very low and holds about 11-15 lbs, so enough for a light gun setup. Its heavy, which is fine for keeping the wind from blowing it over, bad for hiking with. So far Im happy with it for sub $100.

There will probably be a lot of hate for this because it isn't one of the fancier brands, but I've used this for more a year now. It is heavier, which I wanted for long exposures. Strong wind doesn't startle it. I have carried it on my backpack for 5-6 hour hikes without issue. It has been very solid for me, and I use it a lot. And it is extremely affordable.

Good luck with your search.
