Amazon is actually selling the PC version with the needed cable for $40 today, if you want to save $10. The cable is about $30 on sale.

It will likely be on sale along with the original just "Rocksmith" game, but it's never certain when the sales will pop up for a week. I have read if you put the game or DLC in your steam wishlist it will send you an email of the sale going on. According to this link it will be around halloween https://www.whenisthenextsteamsale.com/ . I think I remember there being a sale last halloweenish. Anyways I would get the 2014 and/or "remastered" version off of amazon so you get the cable your going to want to have, or at least get the cable off there for like $30.

Here is just the cable. It says its for the xbox 360 but it will work on PC too.

The Rocksmith 2014 version, before "remastered" came out, automatically gets updated to remasted in steam if you find a cheap version of it on sale with the cable. So basically all Rocksmith 2014 versions are the same. Plus they will still play the DLC from the original Rocksmith just called Rocksmith. I would definatlly pick up that original version when the sale comes plus the "Rocksmith 2014 - Disk Import Pack". That will get about 50 songs from the original rocksmith into the newest verson RS remastered.

Another bonus of getting Rocksmith on PC if you're willing to run a crack is CDLC. Or bacically Custom Downloadable Content not officailly from ubisoft and free . Basically you go to http://customsforge.com/ to get the crack and the songs are downloaded from http://ignition.customsforge.com/ . Lots of stuff is there that cannot be licenced like Metallica, Guns and Roses, AC/DC ,etc. About 20,000 song or something are on there. About a few hundred are actually worth it.

You might check out Rocksmith to help you get into it, if you're actually wanting to learn bass/guitar. I picked it up this fall and I've been constantly surprised at how effective it is as a basic instruction tool(that is also fun).

You listed Rocksmith 2014 as 31% off and $55.

The digital version is even better (for people who owned Rocksmith original, or who are up for going and purchasing a cable separately).

Rocksmith 2014 digital is just $15, which is 75% off.

The guitar is great absolutely worth it, but If you haven't already I HIGHLY recommend taking it to your local shop and paying them to do a set up, this means they'll go over the guitar and make sure everything is adjusted right so it plays great, trust me it makes a world of difference, later you can learn to do this yourself but to start out I recommend you get a pro to do it.

The amp isn't that great, but it's perfectly fine to start out with. You don't need a $1000 tube amp to learn an E chord. a lot of people don't even get an amp at first, they just play the guitar unplugged, so having an amp at all is all is better then how a lot people start. But if you want something better you should check out Rocksmith, not only is it a good learning tool that will teach you songs and techniques, but it's also descent amp modeling program (this means it digital emulates the sound of high end amps).
