We're actually moving to LA with our keeshond soon too! We bought him a "swamp vest" last summer so we'll probably be using that a lot when we're in california. =]

We live in DC, and although it's not Miami hot, we do get some days where it's 100+ and the humidity is just terrible. Like everyone said, take them on their long walks either early in the morning or at dusk. We also got our husky a cooling jacket for the times we are going to take her out on a long hike.
