Im a clean freak and I never let my gear go stinky. Here are some products I've used and worked really well. Get which ever is on sale/cheaper. Trick is to completely rinse out the detergent, while not using too much. I usually use only half of the recommended amount and run the cycles until I don't see anymore bubble residue between the glass and rubber gasket. Also make sure your washing machine isn't disgusting either, esp HE washers.

This happened to me with spilled formula all over the diaper bag. It got soaked on my husband's flight home with Z when I had food poisoning, and he didn't do anything about it for 2 days. Everything smelled like old sweaty socks.
Washing with regular detergent did nothing, but I had a bottle of this stuff from when we were gifted a batch of baby clothes that smelled like cigarette smoke. I washed the clothes and the diaper bag with it and the smell is gone completely from the clothes and the diaper bag just smells a bit off, but not disgusting anymore.
