Currently this is one of the most used 2TB drive.
Also, you can get this one and remove the hard from inside. There are many videos on YouTube.

If you're looking to install bigger sizes (4TB+) that has 7200 rpm, get Nyko Data Bank, it allows you to install 3.5 inch hard drives which basically have 7200 rpm.

EDIT: I'm mistaken. There's a 1TB Drive that rotates 7200 and more. Thanks /u/dano8801 and /u/IPurpleIDrank for correcting me :)

Yes, I have successfully done this using:

  • 2TB portable HDD - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Seagate-Portable-External-Creative-Photography/dp/B00G7LQA1E/

  • With USB-C hub ( Huawei MateDock but should also work with e.g. similarly operating ATZEBE )

  • Power Delivery (PD) power source (in my case this Anker https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B072K5SFHG ) - to power the USB-hub (using USB-C to USB-C cable) which in turn powers the HDD and charges the V20.

    The only caveats are:

  • You will need to format the HDD using the V20 (exFAT). NTFS formatting did not work for me.

  • It is not a very dynamic setup. It is easy to forget to properly eject the HDD when you want to pick your V20 and go out and about.

Also note that the V20 supports large microSDXC cards, e.g. have been using Sandisk 400GB cards since 2017. Benchmarks here:

Also note that if you have a NAS (e.g. Synology) and a wired network at home, it is dead simple to hook up your V20 to an UTP connection using any of the mentioned USB hubs with ethernet. You can simply turn off 4G/LTE, Wifi and still have internet and network over a fast and reliable cabled connection. I use Total Commander for Android to access the NAS. Also Neutron and BSPlayer can access audio and video files on a NAS.

Ethernet/UTP is not required for accessing a NAS at home, wifi also works. But ethernet adds speed and stability if you have a crowded Wifi network (e.g. in apartment buildings).

Get this instead, just take the drive out from enclosure, it;s super easy and you can keep ps4 drive in there. If any need for warranty, through the drive back into enclosure.

I don't think a usb powered, 2TB, 7200rpm drive exists. For that you would have to go to a desktop size model that requires outlet power.
USB powered drives are 2.5" laptop size models. Their max size is 2TB but for a faster 7200rpm drive or SSHD you will have to drop down to a 1TB size.

I use a Seagate 2TB 7200rpm SSHD in a Vantec enclosure. Yeah it needs an outlet but it's fast, large, and works without issues. It acts just like a bus powered drive as well by turning on and off with the console.
I'm fan of of using my own enclosure and choice of drive. You definitely get more bang for the buck with a desktop sized drive along with a lot more options to choose from.

Here are some options:

USB powered 1TB 7200rpm:

USB powered 2TB 5400rpm:

2TB 7200rpm desktop drive(matches your requirements but requires an outlet powered enclosure):

or

2TB 7200rpm SSHD desktop drive:

Personally I would recommend going for a 2TB. This is the one I got: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00G7LQA1E/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&th=1

You could get the 1TB version if you wanted to, for £55.

I picked up this one: https://www.amazon.co.uk/d/External-Devices-Data-Storage/Seagate-Backup-Plus-Slim-Portable-External-Drive/B00G7LQA1E/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8

Just popped it out of the enclosure and the drive inside is like £80-90 on it's own.

I use a Seagate Backup Plus portable drive.
There is a slight delay for the HDD to power up, but it works fine. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00G7LQA1E/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1518212065&sr=8-2&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=seagate+backup+plus+slim+2tb&dpPl=1&dpID=31njL8rwUbL&ref=plSrch

Make sure you're running your SNESC from the power adapter and not from a TV USB port.

Also, check your OTG cable is working properly. I don't use those octopus style cables as I've had issues with them.

Or, you could go for a 3.5" one that comes with its own power supply.

I'm based in the UK so you may need to find them on US Amazon or something, but these drives all fit the PS4.

Alternatively you can buy an external hard drive that is the same as those mentioned above but is enclosed in a case. You can break the thing out of the case and then replace it with your old Hard Drive so you then have a 500Gb external hard drive too. Instruction on how to do that here
