Not necessarily true anymore. There's been numerous reputable companies whose cables aren't passing the signal. Try this one: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00YNH0DV2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It must have something to do with the HDMI cable but don't know much more, I got a similar cable and also have a ks8000 and no issues.

Similar price and no issues. Does 4K and HDR no problem and if you set the PS4 settings to automatic for display- when it runs HDR content it'll switch to yuv422 (best for HDR) and non-HDR automatically goes to RGB. Again haven't had issues with RGB or yuv422 with the cable I listed.
Have you tried using 'automatic' for your PS4 display settings? Are you experiencing the black flash in HDR game or normal?
I'm looking at some HDMI 2 cables and they're claiming 144 Hz up to 2K resolution
Should I believe it?

Both have really high, really consistent reviews.
Which one is the HDMI 2.0 input? I thought that both worked.
This is the cable that I'm using: https://www.amazon.com/HDMI-Cable-6ft-Ethernet-PlayStation/dp/B00YNH0DV2
edit: I changed the cable to the other HDMI port to no avail
